The Yoo family invited me into their home on New Year’s Day of 2023 to capture newborn portraits for their daughter. It was also the first sunny day in quite some time (which, we all later discovered was to be the norm for this very wet California winter). I’m so glad we decided to make the most of that bright Sunday afternoon!
Baby was a complete dreamboat throughout her session! We kept the temps at a comfortable level, swaddled her up in muslin wrap, and she was good to go the entire time! As I directed the family into their poses, we chatted about life in between clicks of the shutter. They shared where they were from, the adjustments of having a newborn, and how big brother was faring with the transition. I love that so much. I so enjoy getting to know my clients throughout the course of our time together and seeing them slowly relax. As the session progresses, they become less aware of my camera and more free in expressing their tenderness to one another.
I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start my year! Since blogging is something that I’ve been trying to do for some time now, but have always ended up on the backburner of my mile-long to-do list, I find it only fitting that I kick off my debut post with this lovely family!
Dan and Esther, thank you so much for introducing me to your beautiful children and trusting me to photograph this very special season for you all!
